Modern premiere! Weckerlin, a composer from Alsace, enjoyed great success in Paris in the 1850s with his short operas, some of which were premiered at soirées hosted by his friend Rossini. A young woman is to be married to a stranger and refuses. While travelling, she meets the groom, who pretends to be someone else in order to test her. The bride sees through the game but does not let on. The bride’s father thinks the stranger is a criminal and wants to have him arrested, but in the end everyone has to reveal themselves: the two young people have really fallen in love, and the bride’s father is able to stop the authorities. Happy ending!
